Christmas Village Accessories
Christmas villages not only make a wonderful and beautiful hobby, they also make beautiful and valuable home decorations. Some people take their love for Christmas to a whole new level with the addition of Christmas villages, and if you are planning to take up this collecting idea it will take more than just a few houses to make the villages complete!
My mother always had the most wonderful villages. She would typically buy from The Bradford Exchange as they truly offer an amazing selection of items to collect. Everything from kids and parents gathered around the town Christmas tree to a beautiful train pulling into the station, can be found by this keepsake company. In the house I grew up in we had a large picture window that faced out onto the street where she would set up the village every holiday season. Those are the Christmas memories I cherish the most!
When starting a Christmas village most people look for the home, building and churches. Anything and everything can be found in these adorable little villages. To go with all the big items in the village there are also many accessories such as: trees, people, bridges, trains and so much more. If you search on google or Amazon you will find hundreds, if not thousands of wonderful additions for your Christmas village.
Some of my favorite accessories are from the Norman Rockwell sets. One in particular is the Christmas Village Gate set. It features a classic brick gate, surrounded by snow-covered trees, stone, benches, a snow man and also has a postman and a light post. In one small piece you can make such big impact to your village.
Another favorite from The Bradford Exchange is the Holiday Spirit Accessory Set. It features five very fundamental characters for the Christmas season: a hand-painted snowman, a beautiful angel who is blowing a gold trumpet, Santa in his sleigh with his reindeer, a toy soldier, and a "Happy Holidays" post for placing in the heart of the village. All of these characters add a bit of personality and whimsy to the set!
Some other of my favorite Christmas village accessories include: Roasting Marshmallows set, Feathered Friends set, and Sledding Away The Day Village set. With so many choices available to complete your village it may be hard limiting what you choose! Personally, I like the idea of adding quite a few different accessories as it creates dimension and unique settings that are one of a kind.
