Magic Voice of Jagjit Singh - Gajal Sangeet
Close your eyes. Think the word 'Ghazal'. Now describe the image that jumps to your mind. Is it a congenial, Bespectacled, Squarish face with gracefully graying hair and a mischievous twinkle in the eye? Don't be surprised, for you are only one among around half a billion people across the world, for whom the word and the artiste are synonymous with each other. Yes, the man in question is none other than legend himself the great Jagjit Singh.
Jagjit Singh, born on 8th february 1941 at Sriganganagar in Rajasthan to Sardar Amar Singh Dhiman and Sardarni Bachchan Kaur.
He went to Khalsa High School at Sriganganagar Government College, Sriganganagar and Dav College, Jalandhar. He also acquired a post graduate degree in history from Kurukshetra University, Haryana. After learning music from various maestros, he came to city of dreams Mumbai in the year 1965 in search of a career in music.
His initial years were a struggle, which involved performances at weddings and parties. During this period, he briefly courted and married Chitra.
He finally managed to release his first Ghazal album with Chitra called "UNFORGETTABLES" in 1976. The rest as they say,is history.
Since then the name Jagjit Singh has featured on millions of copies across the world inmore than 20 albums. He has collaborated with the best names in the music business including the great and only Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar and many others. He has also had his share of success in film soundtracks and devotional albums, but he is the true Badshah of the Ghazal. There are other less known faces to this legend. He is a philanthropist, having raised a lot of money for charity through his shows. He has also developed and groomed a bank of younger Ghazal artistes, who will try and emulate their guru in the years to come.
Here are some name of his albums for true Ghazal lovers. Hope, In Search, Insight, Mirage, Visions, Kahkashan, Someone Somewhere, Love Is Blind, Chirag, Sajda, Marasim, Close To My Heart, Inteha, Passions, Beyond Time, Saher, Dukhi, Ecstasies, Ravayat and many more.
His mother had predicted that her little boy would go very far. How true her words came out to be. We salute the king of the Ghazal.
Proper Way of CD or DVD Cleaning - Bring Back Dead CD or DVD
Often we feel that our CDs are going to be dead when we see any spot on it. Its not a big problem. The proper way of cleaning your CDs and DVDs is given below:
Cleaning CDs and DVDs should be done with a cleaning kit but can also be done with a normal clean cotton cloth or shirt. When doing this with a clean cotton cloth or shirt, wipe against the tracks, starting from the middle of the CD or DVD and wiping towards the outer side. Never wipe with the tracks; doing so may put more scratches on the disc.
It is recommended to use water when cleaning a CD or DVD. However, if the substance on a CD cannot removed using water, pure alcohol can also be used.
Wax the tracks. If polishing doesn’t work, apply a very thin coat of Vaseline, liquid car wax, neutral shoe polish, or furniture wax to the CD’s playing surface
If using wax, follow manufacturer’s instructions (some need to dry before you wipe them off, while others should be wiped off while still wet).
If the wax or Vaseline does the trick, burn a new copy of the CD immediately. The waxing method is only a temporary solution.
